Unfortunately, the U.S. congress has not made itself subject to the Freedom of Information Act. So if you want to know, for example, what James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), Jack Kingston (R-Georgia), Rob Woodall (R-Georgia), Patrick Meehan (R-Pennsylvania), John Carney (D-Delaware), and Joseph Kennedy III (D-Massachusetts) were up to during their official visit to Central America from August 29 to September 1, 2014, you have to FOIA the State Department.
I did, but I didn’t come up with anything more interesting than what has already been reported in a handful of contemporaneous news articles and press releases about their trip. Still, I’m posting the documents here just in case anyone finds them useful.
